Anthony Stolarz replaced him, making his NHL playoff debut as fans derisively chanted “Sergei! Sergei!” at Bobrovsky on the bench.

  • By AARON BEARD - AP Sports Writer

Patrick Cantlay carded his second straight steady round to leave himself within three shots of the U.S. Open lead entering Sunday's final round. Cantlay shot an even-par 70 in Saturday's third round. That included a birdie putt on the 17th hole in what had otherwise been a par-filled day. Cantlay started the U.S. Open with five birdies in the first 11 holes on Thursday and shared the first-day lead. He has hovered around par ever since, with a second-round double bogey being his biggest misstep.

Trump challenges Biden to a cognitive test but confuses the name of the doctor who tested him

Donald Trump has suggested President Joe Biden “should have to take a cognitive test,” only to confuse who administered the test to him in the next sentence. The former president and presumptive Republican nominee referred during a speech on Saturday night to Republican Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson, who was the White House physician for part of his presidency, as “Ronny Johnson.” The moment came as Trump was questioning Biden’s mental acuity, something he often does on the campaign trail and social media.

Near-identical triple bogeys by Tony Finau and Ludvig Aberg minutes apart derail their US Open hopes

  • By DAVE SKRETTA - AP Sports Writer

Tony Finau and Ludvig Aberg had their U.S. Open hopes dealt crushing blows on the back nine Saturday, when each made triple bogey minutes apart on the same hole. The trouble for both came around the diabolical Donald Ross greens, where they kept sending their balls over and back again. Finau went on to shoot 72 and was 1 under for the championship, while Aberg stumbled home with a 73 that left him 2 under. But those three shots each dropped at the par-4 13th could prove to be massive. Bryson DeChambeau has the lead at 7 under heading into the final round Sunday.
