“I joined Tenneco in 2011 and became responsible for the sealing and guiding components of our CVSA2 & Kinetic shock absorbers. Back then, a small team in Belgium was putting the CVSA2 and Kinetic technology on the map. After some time, all advanced suspension solutions were integrated into one business unit. Upon this integration, many things changed, but most noticeable was the scale we worked on. We went from low-volume manual assembly to high-volume automated assembly. This meant going from working with one British sports car brand to working globally and supplying various high-end vehicles with our suspension solutions. One thing stayed the same: we kept working in cross-functional teams, but we now also collaborate with fellow engineering teams in Poland, Spain, Sweden and the US.Our scale brings more extensive and more complex projects. The upside is that we can invest in bigger New Technology Introduction (NTI) projects and work on more complex engineering challenges. On the other side, we need to work with more complex prioritization and focus shifts. Over time my role changed too. What started out as a handful of sealing and guiding related components for our first customer became a broad matrix of features used by many customers for our CVSA2 and Kinetic product line. My team grew from just me to four people today. Collaboration still is one of our unit’s strengths: from other engineering teams assisting us in analyzing components when needed to Application Engineers trying to tackle issues on the customer side to the day-to-day cooperation between engineering and manufacturing.I love that even though we are working in different teams, with different expertise, and from other locations, we all work together on building the best-advanced suspension in the world.”#MonroeIntelligentSuspension #Tenneco #Careers #meettheteam

Tell us something about yourself and your current role at Yazaki.I have started my career 21 years ago as Engineer in a multinational company. In the begging of my career I worked as Quality Coordinator, where I worked for around 7 years when I decided to move forward as Assembly Process Engineer.Nine years ago, I took the best decision to join Yazaki Component Technology from Arad-Romania, as Meters Assembly Process Engineer. Since 2019, I have been promoted as Assembly Process Coordinator in Yazaki. From my current role within the organization, together with my team, we manage many automatic processes, as screwing, sealant dispensing, fuses and relays insertion, optical inspection, detection and measuring systems, pick and place systems, feeding components, robots programming. What are the main challenges in your field of work? Are there current trends/developments (both at Yazaki and in the automotive industry) that are influencing your role? How do you deal with those challenges? One of the main challenges as Assembly Process Coordinator is to guide and support my team as we are in charge of keeping all assembly processes under control, find and solve the weak points. To manage this, I always work closely with all related departments, as we follow the Yazaki culture “One for all, all for one”.How do you work together in your team, and how do you cooperate with other teams/departments within Yazaki? What characterizes cooperation within Yazaki? My team is relatively young, but all members are like me: passionate about technology, always wanting to learn new things, finding in Yazaki the opportunity and possibility for professional development. By supporting the culture in Yazaki in finding the solution and not the culprit, teamwork is favored and always adopted in problem solving. What do you like most about your work? What makes working at Yazaki special to you? What motivates you in your daily work? There are many things that I like about my job but I will stick to say that being part of Yazaki family is something that I am grateful for; also, daily, I have the possibility to combine passion with accumulated knowledge in a very pleasant environment, having the possibility to work with the latest technologies and always learn new things. Solving difficult challenges and finding solutions to different problems motivates me and gives me confidence.#yazakimeet #yct #engineering #automotive

“I have been working at Tenneco for more than 12 years; I joined the Advanced Suspension Technologies unit when our Advanced Suspension activities from both Monroe Intelligent Suspension and Öhlins were concentrated in this business unit. The supply Chain is the skeleton of any plant. We live in a VUCA environment where we need the skills to respond to any difficulties. Working as a Materials Supervisor means I need to be super proactive and creative to solve problems we come across. I love the variety of challenges I face and solve on a daily basis. Communication is key in my work. Effective communication between the supply chain team is essential as we need to work closely together. Together we are able to anticipate potential problems, look for alternatives and define solutions. Our supply chain can be disrupted by many factors, and over the last few years, we have been affected by situations that I would have never imagined. These inconveniences added to the demand planning complexity, just like schedule changes due to the customer's fluctuations. Our team’s challenge is to guarantee that the Supply Chain maintains our production system and, consequently, the customer is unaffected, as customer satisfaction is our main objective. “#MonroeIntelligentSuspension #Tenneco #Careers #meettheteam

To all the automotive technicians who have left the field, what have you transitioned to?I'm curious to hear from technicians who have made the transition to other careers as I am attempting to transition myself. What motivated you to leave the field? What challenges did you face in making the transition? What skills and experience from your time as a technician were most transferable? What advice would you give to other technicians who are considering leaving the field? Please share your stories in the comments below!#technicians#careertransition#advice
