1 Why fonts matter
Fonts are not just a matter of aesthetics. They can also affect how your audience perceives and remembers your message. Fonts can create contrast, hierarchy, and emphasis, as well as evoke emotions and associations. For example, a serif font like Times New Roman can suggest formality, tradition, and authority, while a sans serif font like Arial can imply modernity, simplicity, and efficiency. A script font like Brush Script can convey creativity, elegance, and warmth, while a display font like Impact can express boldness, urgency, and excitement. Choosing the right font for your presentation can help you communicate your purpose, tone, and identity more effectively.

Fonts refer to the typography, or the appearance of text. When using fonts to make team virtual presentations more visually appealing, you can experiment with different font sizes, styles, and colors to create a cohesive look. Choosing a set of complementary fonts that stand out, rather than overloading on too many different types, can also help carry the theme of the presentation. A few other tips include avoiding too much text on a slide, using contrasting colors for text and background, and following guidelines for readability, such as keeping fonts legible on both small and large screens. To improve your presentation visuals, consider using a presentation software like PowerPoint or Google Slides. 2 How to choose a font
There are thousands of fonts available online, but not all of them are suitable for presentation slides. To choose a font that works well for your virtual team presentation, you should consider these four factors: readability, compatibility, consistency, and appropriateness. Readability means that your font is easy to see and understand, even from a distance or on a small screen. Compatibility means that your font can be displayed correctly on different devices and platforms, without losing its quality or formatting. Consistency means that your font matches the style and theme of your presentation, as well as the other visual elements like colors, images, and charts. Appropriateness means that your font reflects the mood, tone, and audience of your presentation, as well as the expectations and preferences of your virtual team.

3 How to combine fonts
Sometimes, you may want to use more than one font in your presentation slides, to create contrast, hierarchy, and variety. However, combining fonts can be tricky, as not all fonts go well together. To avoid clashing or confusing fonts, you should follow these three tips: use fonts from the same family, use fonts with similar proportions and weights, and use fonts with complementary moods and personalities. For example, you can use fonts from the same family, like Arial and Arial Black, to create contrast between headings and body text. You can use fonts with similar proportions and weights, like Georgia and Verdana, to create harmony and balance. You can use fonts with complementary moods and personalities, like Helvetica and Garamond, to create interest and diversity.

I think the way we bold, or underline text. It’s important to realise color & fonts could be used for the same purpose. Mixing fonts to communicate effectively is a new way to look at formatting presentations! What is serious business, what’s more interesting facts, what is personal anecdotes. I think it’s a way of non verbal communication wherein we don’t need to say much. The font can also mean something on its own. Which is why we need to know how to use the font to convey a message.

4 How to format fonts
Once you have chosen and combined your fonts, you need to format them properly to make your presentation slides more visually appealing. Formatting fonts involves adjusting their size, color, alignment, spacing, and style. To format your fonts effectively, you should follow these four guidelines: use large and dark fonts for headings and subheadings, use small and light fonts for body text and captions, use left or center alignment for text blocks, and use adequate spacing and margins for text elements. You should also avoid using too many colors, styles, or effects, like shadows, outlines, or animations, as they can distract or annoy your audience.

5 How to test fonts
Before you deliver your presentation to your virtual team, you should test your fonts to make sure they look good and work well on different devices and platforms. Testing fonts can help you identify and fix any issues or errors, like missing or distorted fonts, inconsistent or incompatible fonts, or illegible or unclear fonts. To test your fonts, you should preview your presentation slides on the device and platform you will use, as well as on other common devices and platforms your audience may use. You should also ask for feedback from your virtual team members or other trusted reviewers, and make any necessary adjustments or changes.
