Great blog here from Simon Carroll. Circular thinking needs to be embedded in every sector, not least the creative industry which is currently a huge source of waste. Danielle Mulder and Yeshna Mistry PIEMA - one for your supply chains....

The Google Hardware Design Studio built a 6000 square foot installation in Milan for Salone del Mobile.Milano based on the concepts of neuroaesthetics. The exhibit was created in partnership with , the International Arts + Mind Lab, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Pedersen Brain Science Institute, and Muuto Furniture Design. Any location-based experience can benefit from a spatial analytics systems that detects, tracks and evaluates human behaviour, interactions, sentiment and engagement... visualising the human emotional journey through space to better understand why certain colours, shapes, materials, smells, textures, etc... have specific emotional reactions in us. I want to explore this more.📍 2019 Milan Design WeekNatashah Hitti wrote for Dezeen: "With varying lighting, sounds, scents and textures, the rooms are intended to stimulate visitors' senses indifferent ways. The aim is to show how good design can have a positive or negative impact of mental wellbeing."#neuroaesthetics #retail #interactiondesign #designweek

Delving deeper into the various elements of wayfinding in my new article, "Wayfinding Unwrapped: A Detailed Insight into its Elements"."In the intricate challenge of crafting spaces that are both efficient and inviting, wayfinding emerges as an indispensable element. The core strength of wayfinding is encapsulated in the synchronized dance of its various parts, akin to members of an orchestra, each contributing but achieving magnificence when united". ↘ New Project — What Do You Make of This?Through exhibition design, interpretation, wayfinding, and branding systems, Kristine Matthews’ work expresses ideas in environments. This exhibition at the University of Washington’s Jacob Lawrence Gallery celebrates three threads that tie together her work: material exploration and sustainability, audience participation, and inclusive design. Each room of the gallery poses a different question for the audience to consider as they peruse projects spanning over 25 years. To minimize the environmental impact of the exhibition while still creating spaces with impact, various structures have been re-purposed from previous projects. The Re-Made framework was originally created as a prototype for the Give Me a Sign exhibition now on view at Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian in New York. The circular “What Were You Thinking?” structure in the second gallery was originally created for our Vacant Seattle installation at the 2021 Design Festival. The sawhorse tables in the main gallery come from the materials library/workroom at Studio Matthews.Cardboard, in various weights and colors, features throughout, allowing for easy recycling. The design, utilizing both the positive and negative of arrow and punctuation shapes, allows every scrap of the black cardboard sheets to be used. The exhibition will run through December 2nd, 2023.See more about the project — https://lnkd.in/dt4fHTmNVisit today — https://lnkd.in/gCVn8mtv...#VisualCommunicationDesign⁣⁣#SustainableDesign#Sustainability#ExhibitionDesign⁣⁣#CommunicationArts#VisualDesign#DesignInspiration#VisualCommunicationDesign#CommunicationArts⁣⁣#VisualDesign#SignageDesign⁣⁣#WayfindingDesign⁣⁣#InterpretationDesign#WayfindingSignage⁣⁣#InteractiveDesign#EnvironmentalDesign⁣⁣#EnvironmentalGraphics

📸🎨🚪 The importance of our surroundings is often understated. When a prospective client recently walked into the b1 studio, they expressed almost instantly, "I know I am in the right place."This kind of affirmation reaffirms the purpose behind our intentional studio design that embodies our curiosity, eclectic style, and professional ethos. While it may not resonate with every visitor, when it does, it indicates a foundational alignment that often signals a successful partnership ahead. In the quiet moments when we are alone, the studio serves not just as a workspace, but a sanctuary for creativity, relaxation, and experimentation. Sometimes it is a bit messy as the space is fluid and used for many tasks. It is a testament to our commitment to cultivate a conducive environment for innovative thinking and design. We're curious about your own spaces! Share a picture of your workspace and describe how it contributes to your craft. Let's exchange ideas on creating spaces that stimulate creativity and productivity. 🎉🏢🎨#workspace #creativity #design #innovation #workplaceculture

Not only product.A few days ago, the Stockholm Design Week, one of the most prominent design events in Northern Europe, concluded a successful edition. One highlight that caught my attention was a space that stood out among the exhibitions due to its design aligned with its function. The Reading Room was an interactive installation, emphasizing the use of minimal resources.Crafted by the renowned Italian design studio Formafantasma, which was the guest of honor at the design week, this site-specific temporary installation sparked intrigue. It provided a platform for contemplation on the Design System, viewed as a catalyst for social and environmental change.Rather than focusing solely on products, the installation emphasized knowledge, ideas, and visions for the future.Designed as a tranquil space for sitting, reading, reflecting, and delving into the ideas that shaped the studio's work, offered a refreshing perspective.🙌 What’s your take?# 275 DESIGN, Sweden👉 More contents on our website, the link to the featured news is in the first comment below.🎯 If you want to learn more about our transformative approach to generating growth (yes, what we call innovation marketing!), feel free to write us privately.FormafantasmaMore about this topics follow #MaurizioRibotti#innovationmarketing #cultureofmodernbusiness #luxury #premium #lifestyle #DRUMROLL---All rights and credits are reserved to the respective owner(s).Contact us to add you as a reference or content removal.

Reflections on the Dutch Design Week: A Changing LandscapeEindhoven's autumnal embrace welcomed the annual Dutch Design Week (DDW), a festivity that once shimmered as the vanguard of innovative spirit. Having frequented DDW over the years, I've been a firsthand witness to its evolution—a journey that has, in my eyes, taken a slightly disheartening turn.As I meandered through pavilions, what once felt like a bubbling cauldron of fresh perspectives seemed to have simmered down. The exhibits, while undoubtedly professional, lacked that raw, trailblazing edge. A sentiment growing within me echoed the sentiment of many veterans: DDW, in its pursuit of commercial expansion, might be losing its avant-garde soul.Large corporations, NGO’s and traditional consultancies, perhaps in an attempt to rejuvenate their public image, have become more prominent. Their towering presence, while lending a polished veneer to the event, seemed to overshadow the smaller, more experimental designers. It's as if the rebellious spirit of design, which once defied conventions, was now being subtly co-opted into a more marketable, less challenging version. The day's saving grace was the book presentation by Prof. Matthijs van Dijk and Lowie Vermeersch. Amidst the changing tides of DDW, their collaboration was a reminder of design's authentic, intellectual roots.Exiting the venue, I couldn't help but feel a touch of nostalgia for the DDW of yesteryears. Here's hoping that the balance between commercial appeal and genuine innovation finds its equilibrium in the years to come. It was a pleasure to spend the day with my beloved design friends Jelle Tjebbes and Elmer D. van Grondelle. (Also a contributor to the book)📚 Book: Mobility Society.
